Hall of Famer Recounts Segregated Era During Fox Sports Interview

Jackson: "We had to fight for everything we got."

Baseball legend Reggie Jackson provided a poignant history lesson on Thursday, recalling the blatant racism faced by Black players during the segregated era.

During an appearance on Fox Sports' pregame show, Hall of Famer Jackson shared his experiences with Alex Rodriguez. Jackson spoke candidly about the challenges Black players endured, emphasizing the need for ongoing efforts to combat racism in sports and society.

"We had to fight for everything we got," Jackson said. "We had to fight for the right to play, the right to be treated with respect. It wasn't easy, but we never gave up."

Jackson's remarks come amid the ongoing reckoning with racial injustice in the United States. His experiences serve as a reminder of the systemic barriers that continue to exist for Black athletes and people of color in all walks of life.
